1. مَن مُبلغُ النّائِي المقيمِ تَحيّةً

    مِن رَاحلٍ شَاكٍ جَوَى أشْوَاقِهِ

    Who can convey to the settled distant one

    Greetings from a saddened, longing traveller

  2. لَهجٍ مع اليأْسِ المُبينِ بذكْرِه

    قَلقِ الحشَا لِبِعادِهِ خَفّاقِهِ

    Whose tone, mingled with evident despair from mentioning him

    Disturbs the stillness of the deserted dwellings through his absence

  3. وهُو الخَلِيقُ بأن يَموتَ كآبةً

    لكنّ حُسنَ الصّبرِ من أخْلاقِه

    And he deserves to die of grief

    But the merit of patience is one of his virtues
