You captivated my love in the prime of youth,
And I said, "When old age comes, it will fade."
But ninety pilgrimages have visited me,
And six years of my youth have passed, lonely.
With the memory of a union free from doubt
That adorned our love with chastity and nobility,
With a glance of the eye or a cool greeting
Sweeter than pure water to the thirsty.
And a conversation in a chastity that imagines it,
If the ear comprehends it, a string of pearls.
The nights have passed, lending me their circumstances,
And time has returned with happiness progressing.
