1. أيُّها الرَّبْعُ المُحيلُ

    جَدَّ بي عنكَ الرَّحيلُ

    O fleeting springtime,

    you've hastened my departure from you.

  2. لستَ بالدّارِ ولا في

    كَ لِمَنْ يَضْحى مَقيلُ

    You're not in this abode,

    nor are you like one who settles down at nightfall.

  3. غابَ عنِّي الرُّشدُ في

    قَصديْكَ والرأيُ الأصيلُ

    Prudence has evaded me

    in seeking you out, though prudence is exemplary.

  4. غَلطةً كانت ولُطفُ اللَّ

    هِ ما زالَ يُقيلُ

    My misstep was an error, yet God's

    kindness continues to forgive.

  5. ما مُقامُ الحرّ في أر

    ضٍ بها النَّاسُ قَليلُ

    How can the free man stay

    in a land whose people are few?

  6. بلد فيه عزيزُ ال

    قومِ مَقهُورٌ ذليلُ

    A land where the dear ones of its people

    are subjugated and humiliated.

  7. لستُ أرجوكَ وقد لا

    حَتْ لعينيَّ المَحُولُ

    I do not implore you, now that

    the vanishing has appeared to my eyes.

  8. إنما يرتادُ أرضَ ال

    مَحْلِ مغرورٌ جَهولُ

    Only a deluded fool

    frequents the land of transience.
