ناسَ وجْدي ويظهَرُ

كَشَفَ الهجرُ من غَرا

مِيَ ما كنتُ أسْتُرُ

Parting has uncovered what I used to conceal -

My eyes have confessed what I used to deny.

وأقَرَّتْ مَدامِعي

بالّذي كنتُ أُنكرُ

How can the sleepless lover be patient?

How can his stratagems succeed?

ما احتيالُ المتَيَّمِ الص

صَبِّ أم كيفَ يَصبرُ

I wish she'd stop watching me -

For fear of spies he shuns and flees.

رَاقَبَتْها العيونُ يا

ليتَها ليسَ تَنظُرُ

فَهو من خشيَة المُرا

قِب يَهوَى ويَهجرُ
