My companions and brothers have departed and left me alone,
My fate isolated me and left me lifeless as a corpse.
I see no beauty in patience after losing them,
Even if I feign fortitude, fearing the gloating hands.
The grave is a kinder abode though we dread it,
For it is inhabited by man in utter solitude.
