My writing to you increases my yearning

For you, even more sorrowful longing

And though others model endurance against sadness

Still Jacob was parted from Joseph of old

Yet my soul is possessed by sorrow

And my heart finds peace only in grief

Nor do I think the days will be calmed by forgetfulness

Nor the passage of fate be consoled by parting
