نشدتُكُما يا مُدَّعِيَّيْنِ سَلوةً

عن الحُبِّ لِمْ يُستحسنُ الظُّلمُ في الحُبِّ

About love - why is injustice considered good in love?

وما بالُه يَلَقى البَريءُ من الضَّنى

جَريرَةَ ما يأتي المسيءُ من الذَّنْبِ

And why is the innocent blamed for suspicion

When no wrong was done by the accused?

وكيفَ استمرَّ الجَورُ فيه وأُوجِبَتْ

عقوبةُ ما تَجني العيونُ على القلبِ

How did injustice become allowed in love

And punishment ordained for what eyes inflict upon the heart?
