لَئِنْ فرّق الدّهرُ المشتِّتُ شملَنا

فأصبحتُ في شَرقٍ وأمسيتَ في غَربِ

Though fate may scatter us far apart

With you now in the east and I in the west

لقد عزّهُ تَفريقُ صَادِقِ وُدِّنا

وأعجزَه إبعادُ قَلبِكَ من قَلبي

Our true affections cannot be torn apart

Though your heart from mine may now be wrest
