1. And she dragged her hooves through Iraq,

    until we left it like a clothes rack.

  2. They brandish every long spear,

    straight in blade and shaft-tip.

  3. Their battle-clamor, when they set out at dawn, is like

    the cries of sandgrouse in a fertile land.

  4. One with a radiant face guides us,

    noble in ancestry and rank,

  5. radiant, his light shining for us

    when the throng of the cavalcade disperses.

  6. The squadrons keep cloaking him

    in a canopy of dust, not held by tent ropes.

  7. He was aided by us, and we were given victory through him;

    and whoever God helps cannot be defeated.

  8. May my mother and her sons be your ransom,

    and if you wish, I will add my father to them.

  9. So whoever is one of us spends the night safe,

    and whoever is not one of us flees.
