فَلا تَقبُروني إِنَّ قَبري مُحَرَّمٌ
عَلَيكُم وَلَكِن خامِري أُمَّ عامِرِ
So do not bury me, for my grave is forbidden
to you; but come upon me, Mother of ʿĀmir.
إِذا ضَرَبوا رَأسي وَفي الرَأسِ أَكثَري
وَغودِرَ عِندَ المُلتَقى ثَمَّ سائِري
When they strike my head—and in the head lies most of me—
and there, at the battlefield, the rest of me is left behind.
هُنالِكَ لا أَبغي حَياةً تَسَرُّني
سَميرَ اللَيالي مُبسَلاً بِالجَرائِرِ
There I desire no life that would gladden me
for as long as nights endure, while I am doomed for my offenses.
