عَفا مِن سُلَيمى ذو عَنانٍ فَمُنشِدُ

فَأَجزاعُ مَأثولٍ خَلاءٌ فَبَدبَدُ

The one with loosened reins forgave Sulayma, so I became a singer,

yet the houses of Athoul lie empty, in decay and ruin.
