My Master Fakhr al-Din, you hasten to generosity

While others hold back, shy and hesitant

You brought down those hopeful to the most spacious abode

And spread out before those hopeful the best carpet

You knocked on the pillars of glory with determination

To which hopes have been tied, however lofty

O fulfiller of promises in an age that has leaned

    To forbidding and frustrating people

Far be it from you to be content that I be

Like the gatekeeper's or baker's client

Black as night is the hair of her braids

From Tasuj to less than a qirat

Misfortunes have conspired against him and mornings

    Have excessively done him wrong

They have muddied my bright sensibility and changed

My healthy nature, corrupting my humors

So take over my care, now that I have conveyed

What I suffer of my illness to Buqrat
