1. وَقائِلٍ قالَ لي لَمّا رَآني في

    تِشرينَ وَالبَردُ قَد أَوفَت كَتائِبُهُ

    And one who saw me in the October cold,

    When winter's battalions were complete,

  2. في رَحبَةِ الجامِعِ الفَيحاءِ أَجمَعُ أَك

    نافي وَأَطلُبُ شَيئاً ماتَ صاحِبُهُ

    In the campus's open space gathering gusts

    And seeking something whose owner was gone -

  3. أَتَشتَري جُبَّةً تَلقى الشِتاءَ بِها

    وَأَنتَ شاعِرُ مَولانا وَكاتِبُهُ

    "Do you want to buy a coat for the winter?

    Yet you're the poet and scribe of our master."
