1. وَأَغَنَّ مَعسولِ المَراشِف

    كَالبَدرِ مَصقولِ السَوالِف

    And he sang with the honeyed pillows

    Like the polished full moon of tales

  2. يَتَظَلَّمُ الخَصرُ الضَعيفُ

    إِلَيهِ مِن ثِقَلِ الرَوادِف

    The weak waist complains

    To it from the weight of the saddlebags

  3. وَسَّدتُهُ كَفّي وَبا

    تَ مُوَسِّدي خَدّاً وَسالِف

    And I blocked it with my palms and spent

    My pillow a cheek and tales

  4. فَلَثَمتُهُ حُلوَ اللِما

    وَضَمَمتُهُ لَدنَ المَعاطِف

    So I kissed it sweet softness

    And pressed it to the folds of the robes

  5. وَغَنيتُ عَن كَأسِ المُدا

    مِ بِما أَدارَ مِنَ المَراشِف

    And I was content without a cup of wine

    With what he elicited from the pillows

  6. وَشَكَوتُ بَرحَ صَبابَتي

    فيهِ فَأَنكَرَ وَهوَ عارِف

    And I complained of the loss of my youth

    So he denied while knowing

  7. وَلَقَد أَسِفتُ عَلى الصِبى

    لَو رَدَّ ماضي العَيشِ آسِف

    And indeed I regretted the boy

    If the past life would go back regretting

  8. لِلَّهُ لَيلاتٌ خَلَت

    مِنهُ وَأَيّامٌ سَوالِف

    To God nights have passed

    From it and days of tales

  9. حَيثُ الحَبيبُ مُساعِدٌ

    لي وَالزَمانُ بِهِ مُساعِف

    Where the beloved is a helper

    To me and time is cooperating with it

  10. قُم يا نَديمُ مُلَبِّياً

    داعي الصَبوحِ وَلا تُخالِف

    Rise O boon companion obeying

    The caller of dawn and do not oppose

  11. بادِر فَقَد جَشَرَ الصَبا

    حُ وَغَنَّتِ الوُرقُ الهَواتِف

    Take the initiative for the dawn has chirped

    And the leaves sang the carols

  12. أَو ما تَرى هيفَ الغُصونِ

    تَميسُ في خُضرِ المَلاحِف

    Or do you not see the nodding of the branches

    Mingling in the green of the pillows

  13. وَالنورُ يَبسِمُ ثَغرُهُ

    طَرَباً وَدَمعُ المُزنِ واكِف

    And the light smiles with its mouth

    Elated and the dew of sadness ceases

  14. وَالأَرضُ حالِيَةُ الرُبى

    وَالجَوُّ مِسكِيُّ المَطارِف

    And the ground adorned with dew

    And the air musky with the feathers

  15. فَاِستَجلِها كَرخِيَّةً

    بِنتَ الشَمامِسِ وَالأَساقِف

    So seek it out like a rolling meadow

    The daughter of partridges and bishops

  16. حَمراءَ صِرفاً لا يَطو

    فُ بِرَحلِها لِلهَمِّ طائِف

    Reddish yellow not followed

    In her carpet by care wandering

  17. كَدَمِ الغَزالِ إِذا بَكى

    راوُوقُها خِلناهُ راعِف

    Like the tear of a gazelle when it weeps

    Its cheek we kissed it quivering

  18. وَاِعصِ العَذولَ وَبِت لَوَردِ

    الخَدِّ بِاللَحَظاتِ قاطِف

    And avoid celibacy and spend the night plucking

    The cheek’s rose with glances

  19. وَإِذا عَكَفتَ فَلا تَكُن

    إِلّا عَلى الصَهباءِ عاكِف

    And if you devote do not be

    Except to the blond one devoted

  20. وَاِمدَح إِماماً دَأبُهُ

    مُذ كانَ إِسداءُ العَوارِف

    And praise the imam whose habit

    Since the noble virtues were protecting

  21. المُستَضيءَ وَمَن لَهُ

    ظِلٌّ عَلى الإِسلامِ وارِف

    The enlightened one and the one who has

    A shadow over Islam extending

  22. رَبَّ الصَنائِعِ وَالأَيا

    دي الغُرِّ وَالمِنَنِ السَوالِف

    Lord of crafts and days

    Of delights and prolonged tales

  23. بَذَلَ النَوالَ لِكُلِّ را

    جٍ وَالأَمانَ لِكُلِ خائِف

    He gave gifts to every

    Suitor and safety to every fearful one

  24. مَلِكٌ أَطاعَتهُ المَما

    لِكُ وَالقَبائِلُ وَالطَوائِف

    A king whom the sovereigns

    And tribes and factions obeyed

  25. بِالمَشرَفِيّاتِ الرَواعِ

    دِ وَالمُثَقَّفَةِ الرَواجِف

    With the well-educated lands

    And the cultivated plains

  26. سَهلاً عَلى باغي النَدى

    صَعباً عَلى الباغي المُخالِف

    Easy on the seeker of dew

    Hard on the opposing seeker

  27. مُتَهَجِّداً واَلَيلُ دا

    جٍ صائِماً وَاليَومُ صائِف

    Staying up while the night is peaceful fasting while the day is hot

    Let no pleasure of his appease you

  28. لا يُؤنِسَنَّكَ مِن رِضا

    هُ جَريمَةٌ فَلَهُ عَواطِف

    For he has emotions

    His virtues have ennobled him

  29. شَرُفَت مَناقِبُهُ فَحَل

    لَ مِنَ الخِلافَةِ في المَشارِف

    So the caliphate was adorned with jewels

    From a people whose loyalty

  30. مِن مَعشَرٍ بِوَلائِهِم

    تَبيَضُّ في الحَشرِ الصَحائِف

    Whitens in the resurrection the scrolls

    Red of tongues and gazelles

  31. حُمرُ الأَسِنَّةِ وَالظُبى

    بيضُ المَجالي وَالمَعارِف

    White pure in knowledge and virtues

    O rider whom has carried

  32. يا راكِباً نَهَضَت بِهِ

    مِن حَظِّهِ وَجناءُ شارِف

    His fortune and lofty destination

    He reached his purpose freely without

  33. بَلَغَ المُنى عَفواً وَلَم

    يَطوِ المَهامِهَ وَالتَنائِف

    Experiencing anxiety and exhaustion

    My God, My God if

  34. اللَهَ ثُمَّ اللَهَ إِن

    رُفِعَ الحِجابُ وَأَنتَ واقِف

    The veil is lifted and you are standing

    And you saw the brilliance of prophecy

  35. وَرَأَيتَ لَألاءَ النُبُو

    وَةِ وَهوَ بِالأَبصارِ خاطِف

    Dazzling the sights

    Then kiss its dust-covered cheek

  36. فَاِلثِم ثَراهُ مُعَفِّراً

    خَدَّيكَ في تِلكَ المَواقِفِ

    In those situations

    And say peace be upon you

  37. وَقُلِ السَلامُ عَليكَ يا

    خَيرَ الأَئِمَّةِ وَالخَلائِف

    O best of imams and caliphs

    O son of fierce tribes

  38. يا اِبنَ الأَحامِسِ مِن قُرَي

    شٍ وَالجَحاجِحَةِ الغَطارِف

    And the loud rumbling torrents

    When hopes come burdened

  39. يامَن إِذا حَلَّت بِهِ الآ

    مالُ مُسنِيَةً ضَعائِف

    They leave lightly from his harbors

    Shall I fear the shaking of steps

  40. صَدَرَت ثِقالاً مِن مَوا

    هِبِهِ وَقَد وَرَدَت خَفائِف

    When you reveal to the glooms?

    The caliph cannot blame

  41. أَأَخافُ رائِعَةَ الخُطو

    بِ وَأَنتَ لِلغِمّاءِ كاشِف

    Those who blame him out of fear

    For there is the age of caliphate

  42. إِنَّ الخَليفَةَ لا يُلِم

    مُ بِمَن يُلِمُّ بِهِ المَخاوِف

    With long lasting survival aligning

    And you remained as long as the breeze flowed

  43. فَهَناكَ عُمرُ خِلافَةٍ

    طولُ البَقاءِ لَها مُحالِف

    And the passions blew tempestuous

    Calling out rise at dawn

  44. وَبَقيتَ ما رَكَدَ النَسيمُ

    وَهَبَّتِ الهوجُ العَواصِف

    Summoning the dawn insistently

    Proclaiming the farmer with good tidings

  45. وَدَعا بِحَيَّ عَلى الفَلاحِ

    مُبَشِّراً بِالصُبحِ هاتِف

    At dawn calling
