The disease has conquered me, and I have no cure,

From what I encounter among beautiful women.

A sound heart I once possessed, with which I used to strike,

Has become, through Salma, struck by an incurable illness.

Her breaths are musk, and within her glance

Lies magic, and I have no remedy but her.

She made me a promise—so fulfill it now!

For is the wine ever fit to drink without water?

How many a distress has touched me with its harm,

During which I called out to Amr ibn al-Ala.
