موسى المَطَرغَيثٌ بَكِر

ثُمَّ اِنهَمَر أَلوى المِرَر

Moses is early rain

Musa is the rain, a first abundant shower,

Then it poured to satiate the bitter

Then it poured down; he is of mightiest resolve,

كَم اِعتَسَر ثُمَّ اِتَّسَر

وَكَم قَدَر ثُمَّ غَفَر

How much it excused, then was excused

How often matters were hard, then became easy,

And how much it predetermined, then forgave

And how often he held power, yet he forgave.

عَدلُ السِيَر باقي الأَثَر

خَيرٌ وَشَر نَفعٌ وَضَر

Just conduct has lasting effects

Just in conduct, lasting in legacy,

Good and evil, benefit and harm

[Knowing] good and evil, benefit and harm,

خَيرُ البَشَر فِرعُ مُضِر

بَدرٌ بَدَر وَالمُفتَخَر

Best of people, a branch of Mudar

The best of mankind, a scion of Mudar,

A full moon, the boastful one

A full moon risen, and the source of pride

لِمَن غَبَر

موسى المَطَر غَيثٌ بَكَر

For he who is absent, he bears responsibility

For those who have passed.

For he who is present and the boastful one

Musa is the rain, a first abundant shower,

ثُمَّ اِنهَمَر لِما اِغتَفَر

ثُمَّ غَفَر لِما قَدَر

Then it poured forth upon what he forgave,

Then he pardoned when he possessed the power,

ثُمَّ اِقتَصَر عَدلُ السَيَر

باقي الأَثَر خَيرُ البَشَر

Then he confined himself to the path of justice.

Lasting in trace, the best of humanity,

فَرعُ مُضِر بَدرٌ بَدَر

لِمَن نَظَر هُوَ الوَزَر

A branch of Mudar, a full moon appearing,

To the beholder, he is the sanctuary

لِمَن حَضَر وَالمُفتَخَر

For those present, and the source of pride.
