رب سر لما تعمد قلبي

قتله ما وشى عليه لساني

My Lord, why did You intend for my heart to bear

What my tongue has killed it with

أنفا أن يقال حامل سر

ضاق ذرعا به عن الكتمان

It is too proud to be called a secret-bearer

It can barely contain it, much less conceal it
