تَصَدَّق فَإِنّا عَلى حالَةٍ

تُقَلِّدُ بِالمَنِّ جيدَ الزَمانِ

Be generous for we are in a state

That imitates the benevolence of time with kindness

تُضاعِفُ بِالأَمنِ بَأسَ الشُجاعَ

وَتُضعِفُ بِالرُعبِ قَلبَ الجَبانِ

That doubles the might of the brave with safety

And weakens the heart of the coward with fear

يَسُرُّ المَسامِعَ في جَوِّهُ

هَديرُ القَناةِ وَشَدوُ القِيانِ

The murmur of the lute and singing of the minstrels

Delight the ears in its atmosphere

وَعِندِيَ ساقٍ يَنوبُ المُدامَ

فَيُسكِرُنا بِلَطيفِ المَعاني

And I have a leg that takes the place of wine

Intoxicating us with subtle meanings

وَتَحسَبُ قَهوَتَنا كاهِناً

لِما أَظهَرَت مِن صِفاتٍ حِسانِ

And you would think our coffee a soothsayer

For the excellent qualities it has displayed

إِذا ما حَساها الفَتى وُكِّلَت

بِحَلِّ الضَميرِ وَعَقدَ اللِسانِ

When the youth tastes it, it is tasked

With solving worries and loosening the tongue
