كانَ بَدرُ السَماءِ يَكتَسِبُ النو
رَ مِنَ الشَمسِ كَي يَحوزَ البَهاءَ
The full moon used to borrow light
From the sun to gleam bright,
فَهُوَ اليَومَ يَستَعيرُ ضِيا وَج
هِكَ إِذ فُقتَهُ سَناً وَسَناءَ
Today it borrows your face's light
As its youth and radiance take flight,
وَإِذا ما رَآكَ صَدَّ عَنِ الشَم
سِ وَوافاكَ يَستَمِدُّ الضِياءَ
When it sees you it turns away
From the sun to gain luminance in your ray.
