In God's care lies the days of my youth
And the life fleeing before old age
Days when poetry was to me a meadow
And I made it a pasture, lush and green, for my soul
How often did I sing when love beckoned me
As the sparrow sings atop the branch
Now I yearn for the bygone
As my eyes gaze at the stars until they disappear
And my soul, remembering days gone by
Sighs more profound than flames
Wandering in the night when insomnia haunts me
So that the spheres can hear the beating of my heart
