O spring, we longed for you, O my Lord

    O light spirit, welcome, hello

    Whenever your beautiful smile shines

The earth boasts like a planet

And on my ribs lies a slain man

Who would have died were it not for memories of youth

How strange, time passes and returns

While my spring has passed and not come back

Who can reveal to you the secrets of immortality?

So you avoided decay and were not slain

Or is it the earth that seeks eternity?

It knew how to last by moderation

    So it refused to waste

Its beauty until the Day of Judgment

    And wore a brilliant garment

With no limit as long as life remains

Oh, a garment embroidered with flowers

To be worn every year, never taken off

I wish I had some of it

I would water it with my tears

What a beautiful pure face of yours

Adorned with dew by the hands of time

Many a soul was imprisoned for ages

Like how the lantern of birds is imprisoned

    It became free after shackles

Feeding on the winds and rocks

For it was not created to settle in chains

Nor was it made to be veiled

How strange in this world is money

It veiled one of the shining stars

    O earth’s spring, O excellent company

For souls that have only worries

Wherever you spread what was folded

And scatter it when the breeze passes

    Oh lovers, people of passion

Mixed in the universe to watch the stars

Their sustenance was divided before the cradles

They stood in every house in rags

They kept the covenants for the people in this world

But keeping them did not benefit

Perfume, O flowers, the trains of the winds

If they blow over the thickets

    Entrust them whenever dawn appears

With scent to suffice me instead of my books

My life became exile and plucking

And communing and grazing on comets

    So when dawn’s pillar appears

After a night like a spotted raven

I say to myself while sleep has barriers

Or even exile in my bed

If it were not for memories of my youth

I would say, O soul, if you wish, then go

But whenever the morning breeze blows

It revives my heart with a good memory

I do not care if I reside in the west

As long as the sun of purpose has not set

For one’s life in this existence

Is the soul’s desire, awake or asleep

And my crying for the first ones, shrouded

Is like my mourning for the first ones who were with me
