1. يا رَوضة الأَدَب الَّتي فيها الأَرَب

    لِعُيون أَرباب النُهى وَذَوي الطَرَب

    O garden of literature in which Arab nobility reside,

    For the eyes of masters of composure and those fascinated,

  2. أَبدَعتِ زَهر بَيان منشئكِ الَّذي

    قَد جاءَ مِن فَنّ البَلاغة بِالعَجَب

    You have created a poetic blossom, your composer,

    Who has come with wonders of eloquence,

  3. إسكَندر الثاني عنان العَزم لا

    إِلّا إِلى شَرفٍ يَحقّ لَهُ الطَلَب

    Alexander the Second directed the intent of determination,

    Only towards an honorable aim worthy of seeking,

  4. عَن حَظِّهِ سَفرت بَراعة خَطّهِ

    يا حسن ما خَطَّ اليَراع وَما كَتَب

    His share shined through the finesse of his calligraphy,

    Oh goodness! How excellent his lines were written!

  5. هَذا كِتاب رَقَّ طَبعاً لُطفهُ

    فَهوَ الحريُّ بِأَن يموَّهَ بِالذَهَب

    This is a book refined in print and gentle in manner,

    Thus is it worthy to adorn it in gold,

  6. قَد أَنزَلَ الشُعراء في طَبَقاتهم

    وَأَبان عَن أَحسابهم وَعَن النَسَب

    It lowered the ranks of poets into categories,

    Clarifying their worth and lineage,

  7. فَلَئن قَضوا أَجَلاً فَقَد أَحياهُمُ

    ذِكر حميد فَهوَ أَشرَف مُكتَسَب

    So if their lifetime has passed, he has revived them

    Through praiseworthy mention - the noblest acquisition.

  8. يا فَوزَهُم بِمَآثر شادَت لَهُم

    شَرَفاً يَليق بِهم عَلى حَسَب الرُتَب

    Oh what they have gained in virtues elevated their

    Honor, befitting of their rank and title!

  9. وَلَقد أَحلّهم النَعيم بِرَوضةٍ

    قَد أَينَعَت ثَمر الفَضائل وَالأَدَب

    And paradise has lodged them in a garden

    That has born the finest fruit of merits and literature.

  10. فَهمُ مُلوك الشِعر وَهوَ بِهم سما

    عزّاً لِأَنّ الشعر ديوان العَرَب

    For they are the sovereigns of poetry and it is through them,

    Elevated in pride for poetry is the book of the Arabs.
