1. وَفى لَنا الدَهر إِسعاداً بِما وَعدا

    فَلا عدمنا لَهُ في المكرُمات يَدا

    Time has fulfilled our happiness with what it promised

    So we have never lacked its generous hand

  2. ألقى زِمام العُلى عزّاً لِصاحبها

    فَكانَ مِمَّن تَحرّوا لِلهُدى رشدا

    It took the reins of glory, honoring its master

    Thus it was among those who sought righteousness

  3. وَظَلّ يُبدي التَهاني في مرابعنا

    فَعادَ مِن بَعد ضَنكٍ عَيشنا رغدا

    It continued to offer congratulations in our dwellings

    So our life returned to comfort after hardship

  4. مَن لَم يَعش رَغدا فيما تَعيش بِهِ

    كُلّ الأَنام فدعه فَليَمُت كمدا

    Whoever does not live in comfort with what

    All people live, let him die suppressed

  5. وَافى البَشير فَيا بُشراي إنّ لَنا

    بِهِ مِن الخَير ما لَم نحصه عَدَدا

    The bringer of good news has arrived, so rejoice

    For the good we have through him cannot be counted

  6. فَيا سَعادة ذي حلم أَقرَّ بِما

    بِهِ سَعدنا وَيا خسران من جحدا

    O happy is he whose patience has affirmed

    What made us happy, and loss to him who denied

  7. وَيا سُروراً بِهِ الدُنيا اِكتَسَت حللاً

    مِن الهَنا وَبِهِ العليا زَهَت أَبَدا

    Joy in it has adorned the present world with fine garments

    And with it the exalted realms have been perfumed forever

  8. حيّيت مِن قادم أَحيا القُلوب بِما

    حَيّا بِهِ فأَمات الهَمَّ وَالكمَدا

    I saluted the coming one who revived hearts with what

    He enlivened, and so death and sorrow died

  9. جادَت مَراحم سُلطان الوُجود لَنا

    بِعود وامق فعل الخَير مُعتمدا

    The mercies of the Sultan of Existence were generous to us

    With a return that set good action as its custom

  10. فَعمَّنا فيض إِحساناتها وَلَقَد

    كُنّا طَرائق مِن هَذا الوَرى قددا

    So we were flooded with the outpouring of his favors, though

    We were ways in this world worn threadbare

  11. فَيا لَهُ صالِحاً فازَ الأَنام بِهِ

    فَأَصلَح اللَهُ مِنهُم كُلَّ ما فَسَدا

    O, may he have wellbeing, for through him people succeeded

    And God set right all that was corrupt

  12. كُنّا نجدُّ اِبتِهالا بِالدُعاء لَهُ

    وَكُلّ مَن جَدَّ في نَيل المُنى وَجَدا

    We would plead in supplication for him

    And all who made effort found what they sought

  13. حَتّى بَدا صبحُ أَفراح المَلا فَمَحا

    لَيل العَنا فَأرانا لِلهَنا جددا

    Until dawn broke, joys for the noble ones, and erased

    The night of misery, showing us new gladdening

  14. أَكرم بِهِ مِن مشير لا يشير لَنا

    إِلّا بِما هُوَ بِرٌّ فعله حُمدا

    Through him, from an advisor who only advises us

    With righteous action, for which he is praised

  15. عَهدي بِهِ حَيثما كانَت عِنايته

    بعدلهِ ظَلّ يَرعى الشاة وَالأَسَدا

    My covenant with him - wherever his concern might be

    With his justice he still watches over sheep and lion

  16. فَيا لَهُ سَنَداً تروي مَناقبه

    لَنا أَحاديث إِفضال علت سَنَدا

    O he is a support whose virtues are narrated to us

    In accounts of grace that have a verified chain

  17. إِسكَندر الحَزم مُستَغنٍ بِحكمته

    عَن نَيلِهِ مِن أَرسطليسه مددا

    Alexander the Resolute, his wisdom makes him needless

    Of aid from his Aristotles

  18. يُدبّر الأَمر بِالرَأي السَديد وَبِالب

    بأس الشَديد فَلا يَنفكّ مُجتهدا

    He manages affairs with sound opinion and fierce valor

    So he does not cease to make effort

  19. حازَ النَزاهة في آرائهِ فَسما

    وَبِالنهى زَيّن العَلياء فَاِنفَرَدا

    He won integrity in his judgments, and soared on high

    Adorning the heights, and took the lead

  20. إِذا بَدا مارد الأَحداث أتبعهُ

    مِن السَداد شهاباً لَم يَزَل رَصدا

    If the furious events appeared, he tracked them

    With arrows of integrity that did not stop shooting

  21. هُوَ الخَبير بِأَحوال الأَنام فَلا

    يَزال نورُ ذكاه الدَهر مُتَّقِدا

    He is the expert in people's affairs, so the light

    Of his insight always remains burning

  22. روحُ المَعالي بِها ما زالَ مُتَّحِدا

    وَالروح لا رَيبَ في أَن تَألف الجَسَدا

    The spirit of noble qualities - it has not ceased to be joined with him

    And the soul, doubtless, harmonizes with the body

  23. حَوى الكَمال فَلَو يَمّمتَ ساحته

    عاينت بَحر نَدىً مِنهُ وَبرَّ هُدى

    He contains perfection - so if you surveyed his domain

    You would look upon an ocean of dew from him and clear guidance

  24. محبَّب لِلبَرايا لَم تَزَل أَبَدا

    تَرى محبّته ديناً وَمُعتَقدا

    Beloved to humankind, their love for him does not fail

    You see their love for him as creed and faith

  25. وَهَكَذا مَن أَحَبَّ اللَهُ حَبّبنا

    فيهِ فَكُنّا بِهِ مِن جُملة السعدا

    And so it is - whoever God loves, He makes beloved to us

    So we were among the happy through him

  26. فَهاكَ يا بَدر آفاق العُلى شَرَفا

    عَذراء مِن طيب مَعناها حَوَت زبدا

    Chaste words that contain purity in their meaning

    Cups of congratulations were brought round to the noble ones joyfully

  27. زفّت كُؤوس التَهاني لِلمَلا طَرَبا

    فَأرشَفَت وَالداً مِنّا وَما وَلَدا

    So they sipped - born from us, though not begotten

    And your lofty court turned towards felicitations

  28. وَيَمّمت بابك العالي مُهنّئة

    بِيمن تَشريفك السامي كَما عُهدا

    As was its custom, with the honor of your noble arrival

    Truly, your return was a feast of joy and gladdening

  29. قَد كانَ عَودك عيداً بِالسُرور زَها

    وَالعود أَحمَد تَحقيقاً لِما وَردا

    And the best return is as reported and foretold

    If not for your coming back, O sun of perfection, persistence

  30. لَولا إِيابُك يا شَمس الكَمال لَما

    أَبقى بِنا الوَجد لا صَبراً وَلا جلدا

    Or patience or composure would not have remained with us

    So shine forever, O sun that has no setting

  31. فَدُم مدى الدَهر شَمساً لا مَغيب لَها

    وَلتعم عَن نورِها أَبصار مَن حَسَدا

    And blindness in whoever envied it
