ناري ذكت يا مَليح مِن خَدك النادي
فَاِطفي لَهيب مُهجَتي يا زينة النادي
My fire has flared, O fair one, because of your dewy cheek.
So quench the blaze in my heart, O adornment of the gathering.
يا بايع الصَبر في سوق الغَرام نادي
حُلوُ الجَنى وَانِظُر الشاري عَديم الذوق
O seller of patience in love’s marketplace, cry out your wares:
“Sweet is the fruit!”—and deem the buyer devoid of taste
إِن كُنت تَلقى سِوى قَلب المُعنى دي
if you receive anything but the tormented lover’s heart; give it as the price.
