تَبّاً لِشيشة تُنباكٍ وَلعت بِها

مِن صُنع طهماز كانَت لِلأَذى شركا

Alas for the water pipe whose smoke I inhaled

Made by Tahmaz, it was an evil companion

تهيّج البَلغم المَكنون قحّتها

وَتَترُك الصاغ مِن صَدر الفَتى شركا

It stirs up hidden phlegm, its bubble

And leaves the young man's chest as a companion
