1. أَلا خَلِّ خلّي من يَرى الودّ كلفة

    كَثَوبِ رياً أَنّى تَردّى بِهِ شَفّا

    Leave my friend alone, you who see friendship as a burden,

    Like a cloak worn thin wherever rubbed.

  2. لإن قلّ مَن يَرعى مِن الودِّ حرمةً

    فَحَسبك إِبراهيم فَهو الَّذي وَفّى

    For few care for preserving friendship's sanctity.

    So cease, Ibrahim - he fulfilled his pledge.
