وَمُحتجب أَطالَ جَفايَ هَجراً

وَلَم أَكُ قَطّ مِنهُ عَصيت أَمرا

And concealed, he prolonged his estrangement

And I was never disobedient to him

رَضيتُ بِكُلّ ما يُرضيهِ قَهراً

وَلَو أَمسى عَلى تَلَفي مُصرّا

I accepted everything that satisfies him by force

Even if he persists in harming me

لَقلت معذّبي بِاللَه زِدني

أَلا يا قاتِلي بِيَد التَجَنّي

I would say to my tormentor, by Allah give me more

Oh my killer, hold back your hand from me

رويدك أَنتَ قَصدي وَالتمَنّي

فَإِن أَكُ قَد جَنيتُ فَصدّ عَنّي

Restrain yourself, you are my aim and wish

For if I have been rewarded, then turn away from me

وَلا تسمَح بِوَصلك لي فَإِنّي

أَغارُ عَلَيكَ مِنكَ فَكَيفَ منّي

And do not allow your connection to me, for I

Am jealous of you, so how could it be from me?
