نَجلا بَني البَربير وَالفرقدان

شاهدت ما بَينَهُما الفَرق دان

Two shining stars of the Arabs and Persians

I saw no difference between them

لا تَنظُر العَين نُجوم السَما

إِذا تَجلّى مِنهُما النيّران

Let not the eyes look upon the stars of heaven

When their brilliance is made manifest

تَقارَنا سَعداً وَمَجداً فَيا

لِلّه ما أَبدَع هَذا القران

They were paired in prosperity and glory, behold!

What a wondrous coupling God has brought together

يا حسن دار بِهما أَشرَقَت

حُسناً فَكانَت وَردة كَالدهان

O beauty! In their presence the house shone

With a radiance like paint

دار سَمَت عزّاً بِسُكّانِها

وَالسرّ بِالسُكّان لا بِالمَكان

A house whose glory lies in its dwellers

For the secret is in the dwellers, not the dwelling

دار بَني الأَشراف أَهل التُقى

أَصل الهُدى وَالدين في كُلّ آن

A house of honorable and pious ancestry

The origin of guidance and faith throughout the ages

قَومٌ عَلوا أَصلاً وَفِعلاً لِذا

أَصبَح في المَجد لَهُم شاهِدان

A people supreme in origin and deed, therefore

In glory they have two witnesses

كَأَنَّما نظم التَهاني لَهُم

عُقود درٍّ في نُحور الحِسان

As though strung together in their praise

Arenecklaces of pearls in the breasts of the virtuous

تَفعل بِالأَرواح مِنّا كَما

تَفعَل بِالأَلباب بِنت الدنان

You affect our souls as you do

Minds, O daughter of the vine

فَاِنظم مِن المَدح لَهُم كلما

يزري بَهاءً بِعُقود الجُمان

So compose in praise of them whenever

Radiance gleams through the necklaces of pearls

وَقُل تهنّوا يا بُدور الهُدى

إِنّ التَهاني عِندَكُم لا تُهان

And say, congratulations, O moons of guidance

For with you congratulations are not disgraced

بِعابد الرَحمَن هنّئت يا

سميَّ مَن وَفّى بِأَبهى التَهان

With the servant of the Merciful I congratulate

O Samma, you who fulfilled the most splendid congratulations

وَبِسَميِّ الجدّ نِلت المُنى

سَميّ فاروق الهُدى وَالأَمان

And with the namesake of my grandfather I attained my wishes

Samma, the viceroy of guidance and security

إنّي مهنٍّ لَكُما إِنَّما

أَحقُّ بِالتَهنئة الوالدان

I sincerely congratulate you both

For parents have the greatest right to congratulate

وَنَحنُ وَالأَهل جَميعاً لَنا

حَظّ قَد اِستَوعَب مِنّا الجنان

And we, the family, altogether

Have a share that fills the heavens

هنّئتم يا آل خَير الوَرى

فَقَد صَفا العَيش وَطابَ الزَمان

Congratulations to you, O family of the best of creation

For life is pleasant and times are good

خِتان كُلٍّ كانَ عيداً لَنا

فَاِجتمع النوروز وَالمَهرجان

The circumcision of each was a feast day for us

So that Norouz and Eid came together

خِتان كلٍّ مِنهُما بِالهَنا

قَد كانَ أرَّخت أَبرَّ الخِتان

The circumcision of each was, by its prosperity

The most excellent date among dates
