إِساة الفظّ عَلى المحسنِ

The mind cannot bear its torment

Evil speech against the benevolent

يا وَردة الرَوض الَّتي حَولها

قَد أَنبَت الدَهر أَبا مُنتنِ

O rose of the garden, surrounded

By time's stinking weeds
