1. ما تَرى البَدرَ حينَ حازَ كَماله

    فَلَكَ المَطلع البَهيّ كَماله

    When the full moon reached its perfection

    You attained the most splendid rising, like the fullness of its perfection

  2. يا شَقيق الهِلال وَاِبن أَخي الغُص

    نِ وَصنو الغَزال وَاِبن الغَزاله

    O brother of the crescent, son of my brother Ghusn

    Protector of the gazelle, son of the beauties of the gazelle

  3. وَمُعير النَسيم لُطفاً وَمزري ال

    بيان عَطفاً وَفاضح البَدر هاله

    Who gently scents the breeze, who ornaments eloquence with kindness

    Who exposes the full moon with its halo

  4. بِأَبي مِنكَ غُصن قامة قَدّ

    تيههُ وَالدلال عَنّي أَماله

    By my father, from you is a branch of perfect stature

    Languishing while the guide leads it its hopes

  5. وَغَزالاً قَد أَفسَد العَقل عجباً

    أَصلَح اللَه بِالمَحاسن حاله

    And a gazelle who has confused reason with wonder

    May God better its state with beauty

  6. مَلك قَد سَما بِدَولة حُسنٍ

    أَبّد اللَه عَدله وَاِعتِداله

    A sovereign who ascended with the fortune of beauty

    May God make His justice and moderation eternal

  7. سَمهريّ القوام يَطعن قَلبي

    يا لَهُ طاعِناً سَما بِالعَداله

    A Bay horse assailing my heart

    What an excellent assailant, rising with justice

  8. كَيفَ يَقسو وَعطفه حَرف لين

    لِمَ لا تَعتَريه نَحوي إِماله

    How can it be harsh when its charm is a gentle letter

    Why does no inclination to me seize it

  9. وَإِذا قيل تِلكَ هَمزة وَصلٍ

    قُلت مَن لي بِأَن أَنال وِصاله

    When it is said that is a conjunction of connection

    I say who can attain its connection

  10. وَعَلى الصدغ واو عَطف فَهلّا

    عطفت مَن عَليّ أَبدى دَلاله

    By the beauty spot is the conjunction “and”, so why

    Didn’t you conjoin one who showed affection eternally

  11. وَعَساها أَن تَجمَع الشَمل قُرباً

    فَهيَ لِلجَمع يا منى القَلب آله

    Perhaps it will gather the cloak of companionship

    It is for gathering, O desire of the heart taking its family

  12. يا لفرعٍ بِلَيله عَنبر الخا

    ل أَرانا صُبح الجَبين بلاله

    O branch whose night is the pure musk of beauty

    The dawn showed us the wetness of its forehead

  13. وَبَدا تَحت قَوس حاجبه الزا

    مي نِبالاً فَخطَّ نون النباله

    And beneath the bow of its eyebrows appeared

    Arrows marking the letter “nun” with its arrows

  14. وَتَلا الحُسن مِن عذاريه سَطرا

    فيهِ نَصٌّ وَشاهد ودلاله

    And beauty recited from its virgins a verse

    In which is a text, witness, and proof

  15. وَقَضى لائمي بِتَرك غَرامي

    أَفأعتاض عَن هُداي ضلاله

    And the critic has judged that I leave my passion

    Shall I oppose its guidance, losing its direction?

  16. أَبدع العَذل لي وَبدعة ذاكَ ال

    عذل في مِلّة الغَرام ضلاله

    It created separation for me, and the separation of that one

    Is an innovation in the religion of passion and losing direction

  17. كَم وَحتّامَ يا فَدتك حَياتي

    أَنتَ تصغي قيل العَذول وَقاله

    How often I wished, O ransom of my life

    You were listening before the blame and conversation

  18. قَلَّ صَبري وَالهَجر مِنكَ مَليٌّ

    وَبِإِكثاره أَرى إِقلاله

    My patience is little, and separation from you is hateful

    And by its increase I see its decrease

  19. بِعت روحي صَبابَة بِكَ فاِرفق

    بِفَتىً مِن قلاك يَرجو الإِقاله

    I sold my soul cheaply for your sake, so be gentle

    With one whom your separation makes hope for comfort

  20. يا مَليك الجَمال جاءك دَمعي

    سائِلاً كَيفَ لا تُجيب سؤاله

    O sovereign of beauty, my tears came to you

    Asking, how do you not answer their question?

  21. خَفض نَفس المُحبّ بالذلّ عزٌّ

    لَكَ لَمّا إِلَيك يَرفَع حاله

    Lowering oneself in humility brings honor to the lover

    For your sake when he elevates his state

  22. أَيُّ صَبٍّ يَقوى عَلى ما أُقاسي

    مِن هَوان الهَوى بِدون مَلاله

    What patience can withstand what I suffer

    From the disgrace of passion constantly?

  23. كَم أَذلَّ الهَوى عَزيز أُناس

    وَهوَ فينا ذو رِفعة وَجَلاله

    How passion debases proud people

    While among us it possesses elevation and majesty

  24. ما عَلَيهِ لَو في حِمى دَوحة المَج

    دِ أَمين العُلى أَناخ رِحاله

    It would not matter if in the sanctuary of glory

    Of the trustworthy Al ‘Ali it tied its belongings

  25. الوَحيد الفَريد مَن عَزَّ نَفساً

    وَبِها شَرَّف الإله خصاله

    The unique eminent one who honored a soul

    And by it God ennobled its attributes

  26. الأَمير الَّذي لَهُ الأَمر فينا

    حَيث فَرضا نَرى عَلَينا اِمتِثاله

    The commander whom we must absolutely obey

    Whenever we see the imperative to comply to him

  27. الأَمير الَّذي هُوَ البَدر عزّاً

    شَرَّف اللَه بِالمَعالي كَماله

    The commander who is the full moon in honor

    May God honor the summit of his perfections

  28. الحَليم الَّذي هُوَ البَحر حلماً

    وِرده العَذب قَد وَرَدنا زلاله

    The forbearing one who is the sea in clemency

    Whose fresh pure water has come to us as drink

  29. الكَريم الَّذي بِفَيض العَطايا

    في رضاء الإله أَنفَق ماله

    The generous one who by the abundance of gifts

    Spent his wealth to please God

  30. أَريحيٌّ مَتى بِنا نوديَ النا

    دي لِبَذل النَدى دَعونا نَواله

    An Aaribi, whenever we call the caller

    To give from the clouds we hasten to seek him

  31. أَمطر الغَيث وَكَفّ كَفّيه جودا

    فَظَنناه ديمَةً هطّاله

    He rained clouds and folded his two generous hands

    So we thought it a constant downpour

  32. حَسبه اللَه إنه حَرم الآ

    مال جاست وفد الرَجاء خِلاله

    May God protect him, he denied hopes

    Though the delegates of hope frequented him

  33. تَنزل القاصِدون في باب فَضلٍ

    فَتح الفَوز دونَهُم أقفاله

    Those with a purpose alight at the door of bounty

    He unlocked the doors of success before them

  34. فَهوَ حامي حِمى المَعالي بِسَيف ال

    عَزم ذي الحَزم حَيث صدق المَقاله

    He protects the sanctuary of glories with the sword

    Of firm resolve, where his word is true

  35. أَينَ مَن مِن بَني الزَمان يُباري

    في البَرايا أَقواله أو فعاله

    Where is one from the sons of time who rivals

    His words or deeds in probity?

  36. لَيسَ مَن قلّد العُلى عقد حلمٍ

    مِثل مَن ألبستهُ ثَوب جَهاله

    None who strung the pearls of wisdom

    Is like one who clothes himself in the garb of ignorance

  37. لا وَلا من تقبّل الأَرض بردا

    هُ كَمَن تَلثم السماء نِعاله

    Nor is one who humbly kisses the earth

    Like one whose shoes touch the sky

  38. عقم الدَهر بَعد إِنتاجه فَر

    داً فَلَم تَنظُر العُيون مِثاله

    Time was infertile after creating

    A unique one, so eyes did not see his equal

  39. فَهوَ فينا كَالجَوهَر الفَرد لَكن

    عَرضُ الدَهر لا يُغيّر حاله

    So he among us is like the peerless jewel

    Though time does not change his state

  40. قَد كَساه الإله ثَوب وقار

    وَفَخار فَما اِزدَهته اِختياله

    God clothed him in the garment of dignity

    And pride, so pretentiousness did not hurt him

  41. وَبِحُسن البَيان فَضلاً عَلى سح

    بان ما زالَ ساحِباً أَذياله

    And he was given abundant eloquence over

    Orators, he still trails their tails

  42. أوتِيَ الحُكم بِالكَمال فَحلّى

    جيده بِالنهى فَزان جَماله

    He was granted complete wisdom, so he adorned

    His neck with morality, enhancing his beauty

  43. قَد أَمنّا الزَمان باِسمك يا مَن

    الأَمين اِسمه نَرى الأمن فاله

    We trusted time in your name, O you whose name

    Is the Trustworthy, so we see safety in its family

  44. ما دَهانا مِن حادث الدَهر كَرب

    قطّ إلّا مَنَحتنا ما أَزاله

    We were not hurt by the events of time, ever

    Except you gave us relief from what pained us

  45. لا وَلا اِغتالنا الزَمان بِخَطب

    مُدلهمٍّ إِلّا منعت اِغتياله

    Nor did time betray us with covered

    Calamities, except you prevented its betrayal

  46. فَلكَ اللَه بَدر حلم وَحُكم

    فَلَك السَعد حَلَّ لا شَيءَ هاله

    So for you is God’s full moon of clemency and wisdom

    For you is good fortune that nothing disturbs

  47. إِنَّ مَدحي بِباب عزّك أَضحى

    مَثَلاً يُحسنُ الثَنا إِرساله

    My praise at your noble door now

    Resembles virtuous words sending it forth

  48. وَلعمري يَجلّ وَصف مَعاني

    ك بِأَن تُدرك النُهى أَمثاله

    By my life, describing your noble qualities

    Perplexes that the prohibitions grasp its like

  49. لَيسَ في الوسع ذا وأيُّ جَوادٍ

    لَم يضيّق قَصد المحال مَجاله

    It is not within capacity - and which noble one

    Whose goal the impossible did not make narrow?

  50. هاكَها قَد أَتَتكَ بكر نِظامٍ

    ما تَجَلَّت عَلى سِواك وَلا له

    That did not appear except for you and has no peer

    Returning, outshining the gazelle in coquetry

  51. غادة تَفضح الغَزال دَلالاً

    وَجَمالاً تزري بِنور الغَزاله

    And beauty, watering with the light of gazelles

    It came spreading joy from afar

  52. أَقبَلت تَنشُر الهَناء بعيد

    أَبدع الحَمد بِالمَقام مَقاله

    Creating the best praise for this place with its words

    Oh what a joyous celebration you rejoice in

  53. يا لَهُ مِن عيد سَعيد تَهنّى

    بِعُلاكُم بكورهُ آصاله

    Its prime with your elevation

    Meet the Feast of Sacrifice for God however

  54. فاِلق عيد التَقريب للّه فيما

    نحره سُنَّة فَسُنَّ نِصاله

    The Sunna slaughtered it, sharpening its knives

    Slaughter and sacrifice for you every enemy

  55. ضَحِّ وَاِنحر فداك كُلّ عَدوٍّ

    وَحَسودٍ هُما حليفا جهاله

    And envier they are both allies of ignorance

    So congratulations to you for attaining wishes

  56. فَالتَهاني لَكُم بِنَيل الأَماني

    بلّغت كُلّ منتمٍ آماله

    Every aspirant attained his hopes

    These are our advance presents, for the

  57. فَهيَ مِنّا مقدّمات فَلا زَا

    ل يُرينا إِنتاجها أَشكاله

    Shapes of their production still show us

    And clear proofs of this bliss

  58. وَبَراهين ذا الهَنا قاطِعات

    عَن حِماكُم مَن لا يَروم اِتِّصاله

    Cut off whoever intends no connection to your protection

    So remain and greet the course of time, full moon of might

  59. فاِبق وَاِسلم عَلى المَدى بَدر عزٍّ

    لا يُعاني الزَمان إِلّا اِكتِماله

    That time does not suffer except for its perfection

    And shine in the sky of elevation, sun of bounty

  60. وَاِستنر في سَما العُلى شَمس فَضلٍ

    لا ترى أَعيُن الحَسود زَواله

    That the eyes of the envious do not see its loss
