طالع البُشرى لَنا قَد بَشَّرا
بِقُدوم اللَيث وَالغَيث الهمي
Good tidings have come to us, so rejoice,
Of the coming of the lion and beneficial rain,
ذو العُلى شَمس سماء الوُزرا
وامق الحلم بِحُكم الحِكمِ
The one with high determination is the sun of ministerial skies,
And the perfection of wisdom in the judgment of the wise.
ما تَرى كَيفَ زَها رَوض الهَنا
رافِلاً في حللٍ مِن سُندسِ
Do you see how the garden of bliss blossomed,
Draped in robes of silk?
وَغُصون اليمن بِالأَمن لَنا
تَتَجلّى كَالجَواري الكُنَّسِ
And the branches of security for us in Yemen
Appear like well-dressed maidens.
كَيفَ لا نبلغ غايات المُنى
بَينَ أَعطاف القُدود الميَّسِ
How can we not attain the heights of wishes,
In the embrace of chivalry and generosity?
وَنَرى طيب الهَنا قَد عَطَّرا
عَرفهُ رَوضَ قُلوب الأممِ
And we see the blossoming of bliss has perfumed
A garden known to the hearts of nations.
عِندَما صبح التَهاني أَسفَرا
راحَ يَمحو لَيل همٍّ مُظلِمِ
When congratulations shone at dawn,
It began to erase the night of gloomy sorrows.
يا نَسيماً قَد رَوى وَهوَ عَليل
خَبر الصحّة لِلمُنتَشقِ
O breeze that has quenched while feeling weak,
Give news of health to the breathers.
حَبَّذا مَغناك في ظلٍّ ظَليل
وَغنا الورقاء بَينَ الورقِ
How pleasant is your singing in the shaded shade,
And the warbling of the leaves amongst the foliage.
عاينت فَيروزج الصُبح يَسيل
مِنهُ ياقوت بَهاء الشَفَقِ
I saw your morning smile flow
From it ruby splendor of the horizon.
عِندَما قرص ذُكاءٍ ظَهرا
كَنضار ذائب في ضرمِ
When the disk of intelligence rose
Melting like dripping brightness.
أَترى هَل أَعرَبت ما أُضمرا
مِن جَوى الوَجد بِلَحن النَغمِ
Do you see if I have expressed what I harbor
Of the passion of love in the tune of melody?
حَبَّذا سَجع حَمامات الحِمى
كَم أَهاجَت بي جَوى الوَجد القَديم
How pleasing is the rhyme of the doves of affection!
How much they have stirred in me the passion of old!
حَيث يَجلو شَمس راح النُدما
بَدرُ تمٍّ فَوقَ أُملودٍ قَويم
Where the sun of comfort rises
The full moon above the vast, righteous pillars.
وَلما ظُلماً حمى ظلم اللمى
خلتهُ بَين ظلومٍ وَظَليم
When the darkness of afflictions took over,
I left it between the oppressors and oppressed.
يا لَهُ غُصناً إِذا ما خَطَرا
يَتَهادى وَرد خَدٍّ عِندمي
O its branch when it stirs
A rose cheek quivers at my side.
رَشأ أَدمى فُؤادي خَطَرا
لَحظه لا تَسألوه عَن دَمي
It provoked the core of my heart once it stirred
A glance that does not ask about my blood.
قُم بِنا يا صاح كَي نَسعى إِلى
رَبوة ذات قَرار وَمَعين
Rise with us O companion that we may strive toward
A hill of stability and a spring.
دار حُكم حَلَّها بَدرُ عُلى
فَتَلونا نعم دار المُتَّقين
The abode of governance which the full moon of nobility has settled,
So we enjoyed it, yes, the home of the righteous.
صانَها مَولىً مُشير لِلمَلا
اِدخلوها بِسَلام آمنين
Its protector, the advisor of the nation, commanded:
“Enter it in peace securely.”
إِنَّ مَن أَمَّ قِرى أُمّ القُرى
حَلَّ أَبهى حَرَمٍ مُحتَرمِ
Indeed the one who led the mother of villages
Settled the most splendid, revered sanctuary.
أَيُّها الخاشع كُن مُستَبشِرا
أَنتَ بَينَ الرُكن وَالمُلتزمِ
O you humbled one, be glad
You are between the corner and its seeker.
صالح الدَولة مَن عَمَّ نَدى
فَيض إِحساناتها كُلّ العِباد
The righteous ruler who extended
The abundance of his benevolence to all people.
أَرسَلته صادِقاً مُعتمداً
فاِقتفت آراؤه نَهج السَداد
He sent him truthful, trusted,
So his opinions followed the path of integrity.
وَبِأَعباء الولا لَمّا غَدا
قائِماً جَدَّ لإِصلاح البِلاد
With the burdens of authority when he set out
Standing with all his power to reform the country.
فَلعمري طالَما قَد عَمَرا
بَيت حَقّ كانَ كالمُنهدمِ
By my life, how long it remained
A house of truth as if it was in ruins!
حَيث يُروى عَدله عَن عمرا
يا لَهُ بِاللَه مِن مُعتَصِمِ
Where his justice is quenched for all of time
O what a fortress for the supporter!
تِلكَ أَسنى دَولة أَبَّدَها
مالك المُلك بِفَوز وَفَلاح
That is the best state, its Eternal Owner
Has given success and triumph.
دَولة رَبّ السَما أَيَّدَها
بِيَد النَصر وَرايات النَجاح
A state God in the heavens has supported
With the hand of victory and flags of success.
دَولة زانَ البَها سُؤددها
فَبَدا الإِصلاح مِنها وَالصَلاح
A state adorned with splendor established it
So reform and righteousness appeared from it.
دَولة طابَ عُلاها عُنصرا
كُلّ عَلياء إِلَيهِ تَنتَمي
A state purified its pillar
All the proud rally to it.
ها أَنا في مَدحِها أَعلو ذرى
رفعة تُزري بِشُهب الأَنجُمِ
Exaltations that rival the stars in height.
Shall we not extend our hands in supplication
أَفلا نَبسط أَيدي الاِبتِهال
لِعُلاها بمَزيد الإِرتقا
For its loftiness with increased ascension?
Wherein it planted in us the branch of perfection
حَيث فينا غرست غُصن الكَمال
وَأَبَت إِلّا لَهُ حُسن البقا
And refused but beauty for it to remain.
Who came to power reverently fearing the Majestic
مَن أَتى الحُكم بِتَقوى ذي الجَلال
فَتَحلّى بِحلى نور التُقى
Adorned with the jewels of the light of piety.
One who commands what he is ordered
آمر فيما بِهِ قَد أُمِرا
خَير ناه بِالنُهى مُتَّسمِ
And forbids evil with utmost character.
The lions are subdued to him, he is a hero
أَسد ذلَّت له أُسد الشرى
بطلٌ عزّ بِهِ كُلّ كَمي
All the brave ones proud of him.
By the name of the Chosen One, best of mankind
بِسميِّ المُرتَجى خَير الأَنام
قَد أَمنّا مِن تَصاريف الزَمان
We are secured from the trials of time.
The brave one, son of the brave, son of the brave
الهمام بن الهمام بن الهمام
طاهرُ الجدّين مَحفوظ الجِنان
Pure in ancestry, protected in faith.
One who established truth and justice for all people
مَن أَقام الحَقّ وَالخَلق أَنام
بِظلال العَدل في رَوض الأَمان
In the shades of justice in the meadow of peace.
I wish I knew who foretold
لَيتَ شِعري أَدرى من قَدَّرا
أَنَّهُ عِندَ سَنيّ الهِمَمِ
That when the ambitions are high
He sees no palace but a ruin
لا يرى القسور إِلّا جؤذرا
حَيث يَرعى الذئب مَرعى الغَنَمِ
Where the wolf grazes like sheep.
O sea that was preserved
أَيُّها البَحر الَّذي قَد نُظمت
بِلآليهِ ثُغور الساحلِ
By its waves the shores of the coasts.
It blossomed in noble glory and smiled
وَزَهَت في شَرَف فَاِبتَسَمَت
عَن سَنا الخَير العَميم الشاملِ
With the brilliance of expansive, inclusive good.
It flowed abundantly, wisdom took it far,
جادَها وافر حلم فَسَمَت
بِنهى البَحرِ المَديد الكامِلِ
With the endless, perfect abstinence of the sea.
O the light of justice that appeared
يا لَهُ مِن نور عَدل ظهرا
فَمَحا الظُلم كَمَحو الظُلَمِ
And erased darkness like erasing darkness!
Tell whoever denied it arrogantly:
قُل لِمَن أَنكَرَه مُستَكبِرا
لا يَرى شمس الضُحى مَن قَد عَمي
“The one blind cannot see the sunshine.”
We are in the most blessed life, pure
نَحنُ في أَرغَد عَيش مُستَطاب
بِسُرورٍ وَصَفاءٍ دائِمِ
With delight and eternal clarity.
By the most high, lofty side
بِجَناب الأَوحَد السامي الجَناب
شبل مَولى أَمر هَذا العالمِ
Cub of the Lord of this existence.
Granted wisdom with eloquence
أوتيَ الحكمة مَع فَصل الخِطاب
فَدعي بِالكسرويّ الدارمِ
Thus named the Discerning Darimi.
So he is the Lord of resolve without doubt
فَهوَ ربُّ الحَزم مِن غَير مرا
وَأَخو العَزم الشَهير العَلَمِ
And brother of famous determination and knowledge.
The one whose tongue hits the bullseye in speech
مَن لِسان القالِ وَالقيلِ بَرى
سَيفهُ بَريَ لِسان القَلَمِ
His sword strikes the tongue of the pen.
O honorable one, glad tidings for you have
يا رَفيع المَجد بُشراك لَقَد
نِلتَ بِالمُختار أَسنى الرُتَبِ
Attained the best of positions with the Elect.
He is the excellent sought one, trusted one,
فَهوَ نِعمَ المُرتَجى وَالمُعتَمَد
مَلجأ القاصد وَالمُنتَسبِ
Refuge of the seeker and affiliate.
All who work hard for its sublimity find
كُلّ مَن جَدَّ لِعلياه وَجَد
مِن نَدى جَدواه أَسنى الطَلَبِ
From the dew of his hard work the finest requests.
Stop at his doors poverty-stricken
قِف عَلى أَبوابه مُفتَقرا
لِغِناه وَلعلياه اِنتَمى
Seeking his riches and the highest association.
And lower the self in humility that you may see
وَاِخفض النَفس خُضوعاً لِتَرى
شَرَف العزِّ الرَفيع الأَعظَمِ
The nobility of the highest, greatest honor.
The most splendid that we hope to attain
إِنَّ أَبهى ما بِهِ نَرجو الوُصول
وَبِهِ نَبلغ غايات الأَمَل
And reach the heights of aspirations with it
And enter through its doors of acceptance with it
وَبِهِ نَدخُل أَبواب القبول
وَنَرى التَوفيق في حسن العَمَل
And see success in good work.
We praise the best of creation, the pure messenger
مَدحنا خَير الوَرى طَهَ الرَسول
مَن دَعا الخَلق إِلى خَير المِلَل
Who called people to the best religion.
Upon him prayers we strew
فَعَلَيهِ صَلَوات نَثرا
عقدها درّ الثَنا المُنتَظمِ
Strands of prose, their order intertwined.
And upon his family peace that scents
وَعَلى الآل سَلام عَطَّرا
مِسك رَيّا خَتمه مختتمي
The seal of musk that has concluded my seal.
