يا أَيُّها الغُصن اِنعَطف نَحوَنا
وَلا تَخف في الحُبّ مَن يَلحا
O you, the bending branch, turn towards us,
And fear not in love whoever competes,
وَلا تَقُل إِنّي فَتىً أمرد
وَاِضحك عَلى الكوسج وَالأَلحى
Say not, “I am a refractory youth,”
And laugh at the cuirass and the lances,
وَاِمنعهما إِن رَضيا عَطفَةً
وَزِدهُما إِن غَضبا سلحا
Restrain them if they agree to bend,
And if they get angry, give more arms.
