1. عيونكِ أزهى من النرجسِ

    وريقكِ أشهى من الأكؤسِ

    Your eyes are more radiant than daffodils

    And your cheeks more alluring than goblets

  2. ووجهكِ كالصبح فيه الهدى

    لمن ضلّ في شعركِ الحُندس

    Your face shines like the dawn, guiding

    Those lost in the maze of your wavy hair

  3. وقدّكِ كالرمح من فوقه

    نبالُ لحاظِكِ تحت القِسِي

    Your stature is like a spear atop which

    Are missiles from your glances beneath the veil

  4. ولم أر قبلكِ شمس الضحى

    تبدّت من الفلك الأطلسي

    Never before have I seen the dawn sun

    Rise from the crystal sphere of the heavens

  5. فيا بانةً غصنها المجتلي

    بغير فؤاديَ لم يُغرَس

    O you whose bending branch cannot be grafted

    Except onto my heart that pines no other

  6. رعى الله ما مرّ لمّا حلا

    لقلبيَ من وصلك الأنفس

    May God tend what was joined when you met me

    The most precious union of souls

  7. فإن كنت أنساه لا نالني

    حنانُ عليِّ الرضا الكيّس

    If I forget you, no kindness comforts me

    From the wise satisfied with me

  8. همام عرِي من جميع العيوب

    ولكنّه بالبها مكتسي

    My passion is free of all faults

    Though clad in amazing splendor

  9. تفرّع من سدرة المنتهى

    كثير الجنى طيّب المغرس

    It stems from the Lote Tree of the endpoint

    Abundant, goodly and deep-rooted

  10. فكان له قَدمٌ بالتراث

    رفيعٌ على شامخ الأرؤس

    Thus it has a sublime footing in tradition

    Lofty over the highest summits

  11. وأمست حماةُ له كالعروس

    بغير مزاياه لم تَأنس

    And its protectors have become like brides

    Who find no charm but its virtues

  12. فتى حملُه لم يزل دائماً

    يقابل بالصفح فعلَ المسي

    The burden it bears has always been

    To reward harm with forgiveness

  13. تضيق المحافل شوقاً إليه

    إذا هو في الصدر لم يجلس

    Gatherings feel too small, so eager

    Are they for it when it does not sit

  14. فيا سيّداً غير حالي طلا

    مدائحِه قطّ لا أحتسي

    My lord, change my state for I cannot

    Sing his praises, I have no gift

  15. ويا مقصداً منذ يمّمته

    لنيل رجائيَ لم أيأَس

    He is the goal I sought when I resolved

    To attain my hopes and not despair

  16. بجدّك عذراً لشخصٍ غدا

    لدى مدح قدرك كالمفلس

    Your merit excuses one who has become

    Bankrupt at praising your worth

  17. فكلّ فصيحٍ له فطنةٌ

    يرى في رحابك كالأخرس

    For every eloquent man of wisdom

    Is mute in awe of your nobility

  18. ودم لاحظتك السعود الّتي

    سنا نورها قطُّ لم يطمس

    And I noticed the good fortune you have shaped

    Whose pure light time can never obscure

  19. مدى الدهر ما صحّ فيك الرجا

    وما طاب مدحك للأنفُس

    As long as sincerity in you holds true

    And praising you nourishes souls

  20. وما قال صبٌّ لمحبوبةٍ

    عيونكِ أزهى من النرجس

    No lover said to his beloved

    Your eyes are more radiant than daffodils
