مذ بدا باهي المحيّا

فازدرى زاهي الفنن

Where is the one who found my youth, sincerity and passion
مغرم الغيد مهيّا
لجنانٍ في سعير
The passionate lover, radiant
Of gardens in inferno
حيث راح ذا حزن تحت الرهن
للبين سهد الجفن
Where one in sorrow went under pledge
For separation, the eyelid fell asleep
أرَّقني ذوَّقني في عيني
بالكرى طيب الوسن
It made me sleepless, gave me pain in my eyes
With wind, the aroma of plants
حال حال وافتي لاحٍ ألد
ماس كالغصن جنيا
The condition came and met me, radiance appeared
Smooth as a sapling branch
في ربى الروض النضير
حين فاح محبوبي وبدا يجلي
When my beloved appeared and his beauty shone through
With inclination and tenderness
بالميل والتثنّي
بالعجب عطفاً يثني إذ يسبي
With wonder, he looked back as he captivated
In his love, green plants
في هواه خضر الدمن
كم له في الروضة غصن سجد
How many branches in the garden bowed down
Our full moon, sun of passion
بدرنا شمس الحميّا
لاح للكأس يدير
Appeared for the cup he turns

صرف راح أوردني يا ذا الحبّ
في الحان صافي الدن

للفنّ خذ عنّي إذ يدني
لصفا خير السنن
