بدر التجلّي صبرت ليلك
فينا نهاراً يجرّ ذيلك
The full moon of epiphany, I endured your night
Bringing daylight within us, trailing your dress
والشمس لاحت كي تستميلك
يا بدر فاعطف بفيض الوجود
As the sun rose to allure you
O full moon, show kindness with your abundant grace
واجر فيضك يحيي أرضك
يمسي روضك زين
And let your overflowing grace revive your land
Adorning your meadow with beauty
حسن زينب ثمّ ربرب
عند حسنك شين
The beauty of Zainab, then murmuring
In your beauty is ugliness
بالله قل من لك أفتى
بالصدّ عنّي والميل
By God, say who led you
To reject me and turn away
حتّى علّمت غصن الرياض ميلك
يا غصن فاكفف لحاظ الصدود
Until you taught the branch of the garden to bend away
O branch, restrain the glances of rejection
كف أغضاك كيف أرضاك
حبٌ مضناك بين
How could I appease you, how delight you
A love that exhausted you between
وارحم الصبّ حيث قد صب
مدمع النحب عين
And have mercy on passion where it has spilled
The tears of sorrow from the eye
سلمى الجمال إذا تجلّت
بالحسن منك البها تحلّت
Salma of beauty, when you appeared
Adorned with your beauty and brilliance
عقداً فريداً يفيض نيلك
وكلّ حَسنَا رداح خرود
A unique necklace radiating your Nile
And every beauty is a gushing spring
تعني فيضك تجني روضك
تبغي حوضك هين
Your grace means harvest in your meadow
Seeking your pond, gentle
طاب نهلا وهو أحلا
من يجلي رين
A sweet oasis, the sweetest
That clears the dust
يا خلّ خلِّ الملام واترك
وفي سبيل الغرام فاسلك
O parting, part the blame and take
The path of passion
متى يهد الهيام حيلك
هناك يبقى ويفنى الوجود
When will infatuation guide your wits
There remains and perishes existence
فانف غمضك واطف رمضك
وَفِ بعضَك دين
Close your frown and gentle your touch
And cure part of your debt
واشدُ واطرب واحْدُ في الركب
أين تذهب أين
Pledge, be disturbed, and alone in the band
Where are you going, where
فانشد وحلِّ جيد الغواني
بالعقد من جوهر الأغاني
So recite and solve the best lyrics
With verses of the essence of songs
فبالمثاني تشفي عليلك
فاسمع بها توحيد الوجود
And with the rhymes to heal your ailment
Hear in it the oneness of existence
تلق فيضَك جاد روضَك
من سماء العين
Receive your grace, generous is your meadow
From the sky of the eye
غادق السحب يُنبت الحبّ
يمحو نقط الغين
The pouring clouds grow love
And erase the spots of sadness
يا برق وادي العقيق رفرف
على عقيق الدموع تعرف
O lightning of the valley of carnelians, flutter
Over the carnelian of tears you know
جفناً يحاكي بالنحب سيلك
يا برق أنجز بوفاء الوعود
An eyelid that mimics with sorrow your flood
O lightning, fulfill the promises
وفِ ومضَك وانف نقضَك
عهد الأمر عين
And your flash and undo your breach
The pact of the matter, the eye
لح لذي الوجد واذكر العهد
من ليالي الرقمتين
For the passionate, remember the pact
Of the nights of the two full moons
