ما مشروبي غير سكر القوم

في المحبوب نور العين

My drink is nothing but the sweetness of the beloved

In the beloved is the light of my eye

لا في الكوب لا ولا في

كأسه المسكوب صافي العين

Not in the cup, no, nor in

His poured clear cup

وجه محجوبي بالحسن لي قد لاح

فلاح جمالُهْ

The face of my beloved has appeared to me in beauty

So his beauty shone

لعين العين

فلا مرآه

For the eye of eyes

So there is no mirror

أماط الأستار مذ لاح لي يجلي

بجنح الأسحار زال البين

Since he appeared to me, he removed the veils

With the wings of intimacy, the separation ceased

فاخلع فلا عارٌ بكاسٍ خلع عذار

الأعذار وقل يا عين

So take off, no shame in taking off a cup of shame

Of excuses, and say O eye

من ستار الصون ساقينا الخمار

يسلسل الراح لي صفا سلسالُهْ

From the veil of virtue our cupbearer brought wine

Binding joy to me, smooth are its chains

ولي كاسين

والورد صفاه

And I have two cups

And rose water purity

بخمر الحان ونغمة الأوتار

والألحان لي سمعين

With the wine of melodies and the tune of strings

And the melodies are my hearing

وفي مجالي بها جمال الغيد

والغزلان ذو عينين

And in my meadows is the beauty of the gazelle

And the tender eyed gazelle

بالعيون والقدّ المرّان

إذ تثنّى راحٌ يسبي ميالُهْ

With the eyes and the delicate slender waist

When a gentle breeze bent his inclination

بذاك الميل

أحشا معنّاه

With that bend

Sweetened its meaning

شمس الراح بدرٌ بدا يجلي

صافي أقداحي من نورين

The sun of the breeze, a full moon appeared shining

Clear are my cups of two lights

نور الضاحي وجه ساقينا

وشمس الراح ولا اثنين

The light of the morning and the face of our cupbearer

And the sun of the breeze, not two

حيث فرد العين مجلاه الماحي

عنّا السوى إذ لاح لم يبق جمالُهْ

Where the singular eye revealed its brilliance

The equal when it appeared, none of its beauty remained

غير العين

والغير أفناه

Except the eye

And the other it annihilated

ما ثمّ إلّا الله في قول لا إله

إلّا الله بمحو العين

There is nothing but Allah in the word, there is no god

Except Allah in the effacement of the eye

وما سواه من ليلي ذات الحسن

أو أسماه وأحوى العين

And other than Him of my charming Layla

Or named it and enchanted the eye

وكلّ حسنٍ زين شجاك مرآه

فهو ظهورٌ لاح به استظلالُهْ

And all beauty and adornment, its mirror

Is a manifestation which appeared shaded

على أين

والكلّ الله

Over the where

And all is Allah

فاذكر صاحي وكن بحال السكر فيه صاحي

ليمحي الدَّين

So remember the sober, and be with the state of intoxication in Him sober

To erase the debt

لا تسمع لاحي وكن هذار الروض في الأدواح

قرير العين

Do not listen to my nonsense, and be this meadow of pastures

Soothing to the eye

وهم بمعنى الحسن الباهي الوضّاح من فالق الإصباح

جلّ جلاله

And they mean the brilliant, radiant, beautiful from the cleaver of dawn

Glorious is His majesty

في الكونين

تبارك الله

In the two worlds

Blessed is Allah

من نسيم كأس صلاة الله بالتسليم

لطه الزين

From the breeze of the cup of Allah's prayer and salutations

For Taha the beauty

وكلّ نديمٌ من آله والصحب بالتكريم

في الدارين

And every companion from His family and companions, with veneration

In the two abodes

ما رمى من عين ألحاظ الريم صبٌّ غدا ملتاح

فعزّ وصاله

He who aimed from an eye of glancing evil, a pour became accessible

So his union is honoured

في الحالين

والحمد الله

In the two states

And praise be to Allah
