أفدي بنفسي المكتبيّ الّذي

لم أكتسب آدابه من أبي

I sacrifice myself for the school

Whose etiquette I did not learn from my father

وليس بدعاً فالورى لم تكن

آدابها إلّا من المكتب

It is no wonder, for civilization

Has gained its manners only from school
