الحبّ مفتاح العطا والجود

للشجي المدنف الهائم

Love is the key to generosity and munificence

For the ardent, enamored, wandering youth

في كلّ غيْدَا في الغواني خود

باللمى في المرشف الباسم

In every melody, in the branches he imagines

With a glance, he exposes the stature of the graceful beloved

بالقدّ تفضحْ قامة الأملود

تنثني كالمترف الناعم

She sways like a gentle branch

And her glance is the desire of the passionate lover

ولحظها لذي الهوى مجرود

فاتك كالمرهف الصارم

So supple, like the firm spear

Whoever has sipped from the cup of love

كلّ من كأس التصابي ذاق

وانتشى من خمرة الحبّ

And delighted in the wine of passion

Is counted among the lovers

فهو معدودٌ من العشّاق

بالوفا في دفتر الحبّ

With loyalty in the book of love

He learns etiquette and refinement

يحتسي الآداب والأذواق

والصفا في حانة القرب

And purity in the tavern of nearness

His blossom made pure has withered

ورده الصافي غدا مورود

قد صفا للمغرم الغارم

For the fervent, burning lover

O beloved of love, climb the mountain peak

يا كليم الحبّ إرقَ الطور

في الهوى نحو المنا ناجي

Toward the beloved, imploring

And kindle love's fire from the light

واقتبس نار الهوى من نور

بدر ليل الصبوة الداجي

Of the radiant moon of youth

And listen to the instruments and lute

واسمع الآلات والطنبور

نطقه وانهج بمنهاجي

Speaking to you, follow my path

None but love is witnessed

ليس غير الحبّ من مشهود

فاغتنمه واترك اللائم

So seize it and leave the blamer

Unlock the talisman from its treasure

فافتح الطلسمَ من كنزه

تعرف المحبوب في فتحه

To know the beloved through its opening

Explain the symbol and from its hint

واشرح الإسم وعن رمزه

اكشف المطلوب من شرحه

Reveal the sought through its explanation

The puzzle of form from its riddle

ومعمَّى الجسم من لغزه

روح معنى الحبّ في روحه

Is the soul of love's meaning in its spirit

None but love existed

لم يكن غير الهوى موجود

فاتح كنز العطا خاتم

Key to the treasure of generosity, the seal
