In the presence of al-Bakri
The cups of wine glow
From the tavern of al-Bikr
Sacred wine has clarified
With clarity, clarity has purified for you from the pure wine
Its aroma, its clarity, you see it
It reveals the mistress of intoxication
And the morning and the night
If she appears, shining through you
In face and hair
So it became a beacon of daytime
The full moon of her face
How much a morning, a morning shone
The light of the starry planet
With a tall figure, if it rang out
And swayed - but for you with chaste love
A shameless flirt
A wonderful, polished, palace doll
Its sun shone at night
It rose and your union dawned
At the break of dawn
So the beauty of Layla's night became clear
The night of power
What is the flower's scent
But the redolence of the bright aroma
Recognized by the perfume
We have named an oath, sworn
To your majesty, by the sign of dawn
The nights of her hair
Its plaits ten
In the braiding, pairing and odd number
Blessed is the morning of her face
At noon and afternoon
My dear, my flirtatious eyes
Flashing love in loss
O Lord, bless
The most high place of my Master
Who came with the remembrance
Then, always and forever
May Your peace last the duration of time
And his noble companions
The purest of chiefs
What an ache the lovesick one felt
Since he described your beauty
In verse and prose
And cried out, complained, and departed
Singing with chaste love
