The book of correspondence holds for me

Secrets that unfold within its pages

While parting may be for bodies, not for

Souls after their separation and discord

For the soul is one thing, a single utterance

That shines from an observant glance and penetrating look

The unseen is its spectacle, wherein its presence lies

And its absence is the eye of presence for one who's aware

The eye of reality in the metaphor of the unseen makes

You witness it if you're absent from my sight

And longing - those who taste know its matter

In uniting its spectacle despite outward separation

When hearts gather in the unseen

Division in bodies brings no harm

And by divide of bodies, for me there is

A yearning that rends the folds of my passion

Rapture and joy, the sigh of anguish

And a flaming heart, then a wakeful eyelid

A fire stoked by passion, would that

It be quenched by a tear on a damp cheek

I have not forgotten the intimacy of our covenant

The springs of my oasis have run sweet

Life is verdant, happiness my companion

The meadows lush, tranquility my confidant

I would not have fulfilled its pacts, had I

Spent myself on it, my senses and feelings
