شِلِيرٌ لَعَمْري أَسَاءَ الْجِوَارَا
وَسَدَّ عَلَيَّ رَحِيبَ الْفَضَا
By my life, my neighbor has brought misery
And closed to me the open space.
هُوَ الشَّيْخُ أَبْرَدُ شَيْءٍ يُرَى
إِذَا لَبِسَ البُرْنُسَ الأَبْيَضَا
He is the sheikh, the coldest thing to behold
When he dons the white burnoose.
