ريح الصبا روّح بذكر أحبّتي

روحي فقد ذابت عليهم صبوتي

The morning breeze refreshed me with memories of my loved ones

My soul melted for them in my youth

واقصد ربى غصنٍ ربا في مهجتي

مذ كنت أسقيه جداول مقلتي

I longed for a branch from my Lord that grew in my mind

Since I watered it with the streams of my eyelids

واكشف غلائل بديع الجمال

حلو المعاني رفيع الجلال

Reveal the coverings of the beautiful one, pleasant meanings, lofty majesty

This is your day

ذا يومك اليوم

واركع إذا ميّاسة القدّ القدي

Bow down when the pillars of his holy feet

Lifted the curtains of his face, then prostrate

رفعت ستائر وجهها ثمّ اسجدِ

وإذا تثنّت بالمثاني وحّدِ

And when she sways with coyness, affirm the oneness

So the evens match the unevenness of beauty

فالشفع في وتر المحاسن يقتدي

ردّ ذا المناهل وسيع المجال

Restore these watering places, vast expanse

Pure coolness at the approach, clear flowing

عند التداني صافي الزلال

لا تسمع اللوم

Do not listen to blame

She is mine and though the distance is long, I am hers

هي لي وإن طال المدى وأنا لها

في شرع من هذا الزمان أنا لها

By the law of this time, I am hers

No heart has excuses from her beauty, I am hers

لا كان قلبٌ عن محاسنها لها

عذراء بالإحسان كم فتحت لها

A virgin in kindness, how much she opened for me

Then descend to the dwelling of inaccessible union

فانزل منازل منيع الوصال

سهل التداني عزيز المنال

Easy to approach, mighty to attain

Away from the eyes of sleep

عن أعين النوم

شمس المدامة برج كأسي حلّتِ

The sun of wine poured in my cup

Lifted the covering from eyes, made me tipsy

عن أعين كشف الستور أحلّتِ

فتألّفت زهر النجوم بخمرتي

So I blended with the flowers of stars in my drink

And gained more sobriety in my deep intoxication

وازددت صحواً في تمكّن سكرتي

فالزم وردي أيا ولهان

So stick to my roses, sway and melt

And beware of revealing, for secrecy

واحذر تبدي إنّ الكتمان

مشارب القوم

Is the way of the people

The saint prayed early when the banner of the beloved fluttered

صلّى الولي ما باكرت سحبُ الربى

ديمَ السلام على الحبيب المجتبَى

May his peace be eternal on the chosen beloved

No trembling shook the souls of the prophets

ما زفزفٌ هبّت بأرواح النبا

أو ما شدا طير الهواتف من قُبا

Or loud calls of the birds from the heights

The best of means, intercessor of men

خير الوسائل شفيع الرجال

كنز الأماني رفيع الخصال

Treasure of wishes, lofty traits
