  1. أقبلت درّة الوداد الثمينهْ

    وهي في بحر حسنها كالسفينهْ

    The precious pearl of affection has arrived,

    Sailing on the sea of her beauty like a ship,

  2. يا لها من رسالةٍ هي آيا

    ت كرامٍ من الوفاء مبينهْ

    Bearing tidings that are verses of generosity,

    Clear signs of sincere loyalty.

  3. بمعانٍ كالبدر في ليل سطرٍ

    من حروف الأسرار وهي أمينهْ

    With meanings that shine like the full moon in a night

    Of mysterious letters, so faithful and true.

  4. أذكرتني تلك العهود وما زا

    لت من القلب في الحصون الحصينه

    Reminding me of days gone by, which still

    Dwell in my heart, in its impenetrable fortress.

  5. عهد بيروت وهو تابوت قلبٍ

    قد أتى بالصفا وفيه السكينه

    Beirut, a coffin for my heart,

    Brought me serenity and peace within.

  6. يا رعى الله ذلك العهد إذ كا

    نت لياليه خير عيدٍ وزينه

    May God protect that time, when

    Its nights were the best celebrations for me.

  7. طالما قد جنيت أثمار أنسٍ

    من رياض المنى بتلك المدينه

    I reaped fruits of companionship

    In the gardens of wishes in that city.
