كأَنَّ هِباتِ اللَهِ حينَ تَقَسَّمَت

اتى حظُّهُ بينَ الوَرَى وافرَ القِسمِ

As though God's gifts when they were apportioned

Gave him of gifts that to the folk were plenteous

ولو جُسِّمَت اخلاقُهُ لرأَيَتها

عُقودَ لآلٍ ليس تُدرَك بالوَهمِ

And if his nature were divided up

'Twould be loose pearls not to be counted in men's dreams

فما دُونَها رصمٌ وهذه حقيقةٌ

وشتَّانَ ما بين الحقيقة والرسمِ

So, all besides is fiction, while this is fact

And difference far lies between fact and seeming
