هذا نِقولا الذي أجرَى الدُّموعَ دَماً

بفَقْدِهِ وأطالَ النَّوحَ والأسَفَا

This is Niqula who shed tears of blood

Grieving for him, prolonging the wailing and sorrow

بالأمسِ كانتْ إلى أميونَ نِسبتُهُ

واليومَ صارت إلى أوج العُلَى شَرَفا

Yesterday, his lineage was traced back to Amioun

Today, he reached the highest honor

لمَّا قَضَى في سبيلِ اللهِ مُبتهِجاً

بنورِهِ وبثوبِ المجدِ مُلتحِفا

When he joyfully died in the cause of God

Enshrouded in his light and the garment of glory

صاحتْ بهِ مُهجةُ الباكي مؤرِّخةً

افديكَ يا غصنَ بانٍ في الصِّبا انقصفا

Cried the heart of the weeping eulogizer, chronicling:

I ransom you, O branch of Bani, broken off in youth
