Fate has been fulfilled from the height of that pulpit

So be patient with your affliction or cease to be patient

And indeed has come what you no longer possess after

Except weeping and the anguish of remorse

O you eye that cries for

The loss of the beloved with its falling tear

You cry this day but tomorrow

You will be cried over and so you have not lost

We forbid grieving that melts our hearts

Like the cup-bearer criticizes the drinking of wine

Verily the tongue obeys the command of its advice

While the heart rejects it like one who was not commanded

O you who departed, breaking hearts, saying

I have sworn to you that I will not be coerced

Our tears will water your tomb for they are

Purer and nobler than the waters of the Fountain

If only you could be bought, O moon that

Tasted eclipse, the purchaser would be happy

Alas, redemption has become difficult so he who

Redeems is disappointed even if he gave the kingdoms of Caesar

An old disease, how much sorrow it has

In every heart of the women of eras

It has confused minds in its rulings

And misguided the sanity of the greatest philosopher

It spares the hunched old man on his cane

Weakly and destroys the younger boy

O Yusuf of beautiful charm, his beauty

What has befallen the beauty of that spectacle

At sixteen years of your life, you were as chaste

As the full moon eclipsed at mid-month

And you left without saying farewell, setting

An appointment for the Day of Assembly

You left your world without saying farewell, seeking

The House of Bliss so it was the most profitable trade

And you knew that you inevitably travel

So you intended to take the shortest path

The one for which the servants were created

So the living are considered dead, unburied

Prepare your child's bier with his cradle

For both may be brought together at the place of questioning

O you who cries for one who slept in

The House of Felicity, cease your tears and shorten them

He has won the prepared kingdom for the likes of him

And the kingdom is the custom of Yusuf so rejoice
