جيران وادي الشتا يا ناس أبغضهم

أحب للقلب من جيران ذي سلم

The neighbors of Wadi as-Sita - how I hate them!

I love most the heart's neighbors with peace.

وماء راحوب ان تصفو وإن كدرت

تظل أعذب ماء سائغ بفمي

Though the waters of Rachoub run pure or stir mud,

Still are they the sweetest to drink that my mouth has known.
