بلادي هواها في لساني وفي دمي

يمجدُها قلبي ويدعو لها فمي

My country's love is on my tongue and in my blood

My heart praises it and my mouth prays for it

ولا خيرَ فيمن لا يحبُّ بلادَهُ

ولا في حليفِ الحب إن لم يتيم

And there is no good in one who does not love his country

Nor in the ally of love if he is not loyal

ومن تؤوِهِ دارٌ فيجحدُ فضلها

يكن حيواناً فوقه كل أعجمِ

And whoever complains of a house then denies its merit

Is an animal above whom every foreigner is civilized

ألم ترَ أنَّ الطيرَ إن جاءَ عشهُ

فآواهُ في أكنافِهِ يترنم

Have you not seen that if a bird comes to its nest

It shelters it in its wings and sings?

وليسَ من الأوطانِ من لم يكن لها

فداء وإن أمسى إليهنَّ ينتمي

And there is no homeland for one who has not

Sacrificed for it even if he belongs to it

على أنها للناس كالشمس لم تزلْ

تضيءُ لهم طراً وكم فيهمُ عمي

Yet homelands are for people like the sun that

Illuminates paths for them while many among them are blind

ومن يظلمِ الأوطان أو ينسَ حقها

تجبه فنون الحادثات بأظلم

And whoever wrongs homelands or forgets their right

Is hit by the arts of events with darkness

ولا خيرَ فيمنْ إن أحبَّ دياره

أقام ليبكي فوقَ ربعٍ مهدم

And there is no good in one who, if he loves his country

Stays to cry over a demolished quarter

وقد طويتْ تلك الليالي بأهلها

فمن جهلَ الأيامَ فليتعلم

And those nights with their people have passed

So let the ignorant learn

وما يرفع الأوطانَ إلا رجالها

وهل يترقى الناسُ إلا بسلم

And nothing elevates homelands except their men

And do people rise except with a ladder?

ومن يكُ ذا فضلٍ فيبخل بفضلهِ

على قومهِ يستغنَ عنه ويذمم

And whoever has merit yet is miserly with it

Toward his people, they can do without him and dispraise him

ومن يتقلبْ في النعيم شقيْ بهِ

إذا كان من آخاهُ غيرُ منعم

And whoever revels in bliss is wretched in it

If those he brothered are not prosperous
