محمدٌ ما لكَ من خاذلِ
فالحقُ منصورٌ على الباطلِ
Muhammad, you have none who shall forsake you;
for truth is victorious over falsehood.
والناسُ إما غفلوا مرّةً
عنكَ فما ربّكَ بالغافلِ
People are either heedless or beset by doubt
about you—but your Lord is never heedless.
العدلُ والعقلُ أليفا هوىً
وليسَ كلّ لناسِ بالعاقلِ
Justice and reason are passion’s two intimates,
yet not everyone among humankind is rational.
والسيفُ إن يصدأ بكفِّ الذي
يحملهُ فالأمرُ للصاقلِ
And if the sword rusts in the hand of the one
who bears it, the task falls to the polisher.
فرحمةُ اللهِ بهذا الورى
منزلةٌ في قولهِ الفاصلِ
Thus God’s mercy toward all creation
is set forth in His decisive Word.
والحقُّ إن لانَ ولكنهُ
يودي بذاكَ الباطلِ الباسلِ
Though truth may yield, nevertheless
it brings that fierce falsehood to ruin,
كالموجِ مهما همَّ في وثبهِ
تراهُ ينحلُّ على الساحلِ
like a wave: however it gathers itself to leap,
you see it dissolve upon the shore.
