Pass by us, oh morning breeze of Nejd

And convey my tears and my love's ardour

I've become restless, my longing so immense

More intense is my yearning, longing so immense

My eyes flow with tears down my cheeks

And my tears flow down upon my cheek

I can't forget, though days bring us together

As if I'm in the eternal paradise

She complains like I complain of passion and if

I confide in her, she responds as I confide

And is mindful of the estrangement when

The pain of estrangement weighs upon my heart

And when I cry, her tears flow down

Flowing down like dew drops on roses at dawn

My heart - and life holds no more hopes

As long as you remain lit, O my heart

Can it be that all who fall in love die of sorrow

Or have I alone felt this sorrow so immense

Ask the stage of tranquility, as the doe did

That deer missed me after our parting

How I yearned for her, and how faithful I was

If only my yearning after her made a difference

And how I safeguarded my love for her

After we parted, she forgot my love

What has befallen you, after she glanced at you

And winked deliberately with her eyes at you

Or how she forbade you, on the island

From startling the deer or wrestling the lions

And showed you eyes sheathed like a sword

Unsheathed from its scabbard, sharp and immense

Your love has wounded my liver, if only

I knew love would wound me so deep

O heart, why do I not grieve for him

After I lost him, except for losing him

Convey your greetings, O morning breeze

One day, you may return them to me

And sympathize with the nearness of the abode

Its companions bore my absence with patience

O Ghadah, keep your vows to her

Are you still true to your vows to me

I have become restless in my heart, if only

My heart would aid me in my fervent love
